Shape-shifting

Can every creature in Wonderland/Looking Glass land do this? It seems that they can either naturally or with the help of magical food/drink. And there are times when they seem to not be aware they are actually doing it, so they probably even do it by accident sometimes. Maybe it's a power they have to learn to control (like with Pig for example)
I just watched the 1999 Alice in Wonderland movie, and in it some of the animal characters like the mouse and birds can take on a human form. It makes me think that maybe humanoid characters could probably look like animals if they wanted to and visa versa.
I guess reality works differently there and the inhabitants are capable of things humans can't do.
