Original font used?

Postby The Queen of Hearts » Tue Mar 07, 2017 12:44 am

An odd question, does anyone know the name of the font originally used in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland?

At typophile.com somebody said the Victorian texts used Scotch Roman typefaces.

Is that a start?

It certainly provides another option. I was starting to lean toward the font Didot, which was commonly used as well, but the capital Q doesn't match. AIW:-(

Guess what, Treacle? It looks like you were on the right track!

This (digital version) talks about the font used to recreate it on the last page, which was a Modern font and which in America would have been referred to as a Scotch font. :)
