Yeah, we could do that I suppose...OR, we could witness the sheer treasure trove I have found for you guys right here on 'Hugo Strikes Back!' (minus Tenniel illustrations) If you are already aware of this site, then I apologize in advance.

Looks like the discussion has paused some years ago - pity! I have read with great interest, anyway, and want to share illustrations from my favorite Russian (Soviet) edition by Gennady Kalinovsky. Somewhere in the forum is a direction to the playing cards by Vladislav Yerko, another Slavic artist who's internationally known and has illustrated the Alice books.

I particularly like the way Yerko makes Alice look like a little girl. (A surprising number of illustrators, including John Tenniel, don't.)
