A new tv Alice (sequel) in the pipeline
http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/01/29/nbc-a ... nd-sequel/
America's NBC is making a pilot of 'Wonderland', a sequel to the books set in the modern day, with a new heroine, Clara, and a new evil queen, Alice (!)

The CW (also American) is doing a series too, although I haven't heard anything all that recently about it.

The article you posted was newer, so I'd venture to say that it's right (should have looked at your link before postingAccording to the article I linked to the CW version, "did not receive a pilot order and The CW might be finished with its pickups." So the future doesn't look too promising for it at this point
But you never know...

And another one
ABC's Once Upon A Time is set to make a self-contained, thirteen part spin-off series called Once: Wonderland
http://www.sfx.co.uk/2013/03/20/once-up ... ake-shape/
Someone called Sophie Lowe is playing Alice - "young but having lived a hard and long life and carrying those scars on her psyche."
http://www.tvtonight.com.au/2013/04/sop ... rland.html
And Paul Reubens (Pee-Wee Herman) is voicing a CGI White Rabbit
http://www.sfx.co.uk/2013/04/05/pee-wee ... onderland/
As of March 29, "The show is at pilot stage [...] with a five-scene presentation being filmed in Vancouver after Once Upon A Time wraps shooting on season two. If the show gets the green light, it is apparently going to have a structure (if not tone, presumably) to American Horror Story"
http://www.sfx.co.uk/2013/03/29/once-up ... -a-star-b/
More blah blah blah here, including these lines, seemingly written with the express purpose of irritating genuine Alice fans:

In the book, the Red Queen aka Iracebeth, has a short temper and is merciless against her enemies and those who have betrayed her."

I cringed when they announced they were doing this and when I first read the above (once again hoping for failure in this).More blah blah blah here, including these lines, seemingly written with the express purpose of irritating genuine Alice fans:

I really like Once Upon a Time, but they've already included AIW references in the show and I don't see a spin off as being that great (if it has to be done just integrate it with the show, don't make viewers follow two separate yet loosely related shows just to fill in a gap between new episodes). They already had a character who was the Queen of Hearts in the show and now of course they have to add the Red Queen. It'd be great if someone read a book every once in awhile or put forth some research. A chess piece is not a playing card, there are no cards in TTLG, and the only person who is referred to by a name that isn't a title in the books is Alice!!!

Some more on Once Upon a Time in Wonderland:

and a bit repetitive

Very disappointed that genies are being included in Wonderland and they keep saying "the hookah smoking caterpillar". There's only one caterpillar in the story, so do they really need to include that?

'A psychedelic romance' - Oh dear
It's amazing really how one pop song, from forty-plus years ago, still has such a profound influence on informing people's understanding of the book(s)

Oh!
EDIT Just found a trailer, about which Entertainment Weekly says, "Once Upon a Time in Wonderland. You see that trippy trailer? Might as well call it the Bong Hit Fairy Tale Hour."
http://insidetv.ew.com/2013/05/14/once- ... d-trailer/
Though I have to say, it looks to me like it owes a greater debt to American McGee than it does to Grace Slick
Looks like Paul Reubens has lost outThe White Rabbit, voiced by John Lithgow, will also be a pivotal part of the show
