One of my favorite episodes from a really amazing show. My one gripe with it is that Roddy McDowall (playing Jervis Tetch/The Hatter) mispronounces "frabjous" (saying "frab-ju-ous" instead), but this is a very minor quibble considering all the other really wonderful things they got right.
I love the other episode you mention as well. The way Bruce Wayne solves his problem logically is rather Carrollian, and it's so great that as he's solving it the Mad Hatter really seems to be excited by the problem solving. Batman's method of escape is pretty ingenious, too.
The Hatter appears in three more episodes that I've actually never seen, though only one of them ("The Worry Men") features him as a main character.
Information on the Mad Hatter throughout the Batman universe here:

You'll have to copy-and-paste that address, as apparently the BBCode for URLs doesn't like parentheses.

Batman
Thought you might like to know the 1994 Legends of the Dark Knight Hallowe'en Special features Batman and the Mad Hatter and has the Hatter kidnapping the children of Gotham and forcing them to act out scenes from AiW. It also shows Batman/Bruce Wayne with an Alice fixation and finishes up with Bruce sitting down to re-read the book.

Okay, it was Spider Man, not Batman...

Alice Meets Batman!
It might interest Alice/Batman fans to know that there are TWO villians calling themselves the Mad Hatter in the series! The first one made an appearance way back in the 50s (I believe), and he was so called because he went around dressed up like the Mad Hatter in ALICE. The second one took over afterwards (even assuming Jervis Tetch, the real name of the Hatter), and this one didn't always dress up as the Hatter (he even sported red mustachios), but he did utilize hats in his crimes and he was always trying to add Batman's cowl to his rare and usual stolen hat collection (the Mad Hatter in the 60s tv show was obviously the second one). However, the first finally made a comback in the late 70s with a vengence, and although he claims to have "disposed" of the "imposter" Hatter, that one has reappeared in recent times, too. The Mad Hatter in the BATMAN: THE ANIMATED SERIES is clearly based on the first Hatter (and the better, IMO).

Me too.I did a bit of research into the Mad Hatter in the comic and found he's a rather twisted, gruesome character. I think I'll just stick to the cuddly, lovable animated series Jervis.
The best thing about that 'Mad as a Hatter' episode was how you actually cared for a psychopath who used mind control to get a girl to like him.
