- An 11 year old's favorite book everMy son asked me to type the review for him; here's his exact wording. "I loved it. It's got a mysterious narration and a good story. I like the fact that he writes in an interesting way and is very strange. It's mostly funny and it's kind of an adventure too. I've read all three books that have come out so far and have loved them all. There are going to be five books total. I know this because I emailed the author on his website and he answered me back. I think it's a great book and I think everyone should read it." And to add--my son has read this book at least six times, and the sequels he's read 3-4 times each. He loves the book more than words here can express.

- Metafiction for kids! This book has a similar plot line to many of its sort (young perky protagonists use kid power to survive an adventure), but this one's different! It introduces kids to metafiction (of which I'm a big fan). And for budding neurologists, it introduces cool stuff like synesthesia. It's a fun, quirky read. There's also an appendix w/things like carny vocabulary, and other activities (e.g., how to make a compass, do a card trick, and break codes). The ending leaves the door wide open for a welcome sequel.

- Very good bookI am 13 and got this book for Christmas. I haven't read a book in a series anything like this one. It was bizarre and different, which made me that much more enthusiastic to read it. The plotline had a style all it's own that brought a new element into the book. I thought the only small con was in the three book series, it got boring at some parts. I think the author could have written it in two books and left out some events, and it would have been just as good, and less strectched out. Besides that small flaw, overall, I recommend this book to anyone.
