- Not for little onesI am so disappointed. This story starts off well, with a kindly old man who wishes he had a son, and then it goes downhill from there. Pinocchio comes to life, then his father immediately sends him to school, where Pinocchio encounters troublemakers, gets put in a birdcage jail, gets turned into a donkey, gets swallowed by a whale.... And we wonder why little children have nightmares. What are we teaching our children? So many of these Little Golden Books have very disturbing themes. For some reason, a parent is usually deceased, or gets killed, or is somehow separated from the child. Then there is violence--even Winnie the Pooh has a gun in it. And even murder--read their version of Snow White. The illustrations of the wolf in the Three Little Pigs is frightening, with saliva dripping off his fangs, about to eat them. The interplay between female characters such as in Sleeping Beauty, Snow White, and Cinderella is disturbing. In general these are just not good stories for small children. Let kids be kids!

- Just as I rememberI just read this to my dd in a doctor's office and had to buy it. I disagree with the other reviewers, there is one mention of (only one though) of pinocchio's nose growing. However, I see this as true to the original story and perfect for kids that need a little more than most picture books offer, but still love to look at pictures.

- DisappointedWhat happened to the part where Pinocchio's nose grows ? ( Not even mentioned in this version. ) Might leave my grandaughter wondering if I may have told a fib .....

- DisappointedTotally left out the part about Pinocchio's nose growing. Now my grandaughter wonders if I may have told a fib ....

- Not a "truthful" representation of the storyI bought this book to teach my children about honesty since Pinocchio's nose grows every time he lies.... Or so I thought. There is not one mention of lying or his nose growing anywhere in the book, so the purpose of my purchase was lost. Instead, it goes on about other parts of the pinocchio story. A nice story, but if you are looking to teach children about values, honesty and lying, this is not the right book for you.
