Rating: - My 6-year old loves it!
My daughter got a mini/party favor checker board and seemed to enjoy as we played it and she learned the rules of checkers. I ordered this right after we played with the mini board. The size is perfect! We sit on the floor at the bottom edge of the bed (or wherever) and play. I think she has a better overall view of the board due to the size. I see her poring over the board/rug and considering her next move while clearly seeing the entire area of play. The size also makes it easier for other family members (brother and mommy) to sit around and see what's happening while they wait for their turn. The rug and pieces are rugged and will likely last for years. It comes with a sealable plastic bag to hold the rug and pieces. DEFINITELY RECOMMENDED... and I will likely purchase again as a gift for others.

I BOUGHT THIS FOR MY GRAND CHILDREN AGES 8 & 5. THE 8 YEAR OLD IS PICKING UP ON THE CONCEPT. THE 5 YEAR OLD LOVES TO STACK THE CHECKERS AND PLAY WITH THEM AS SHAPES NOT A GAME. I LOVE THE LARGENESS OF THIS GAME. IT MAKES IT EASIER TO HANDLE AND TEACH THEM WITH THE HUGE PIECES. THE CHECKER BOADER IS A NICE BURLAP KIND OF FABRIC THAT STAYS IN PLAY REALLY NICE. I THINK BOARD GAMES ARE IMPORTANT FOR KIDS. IT TEACHES THEM TO THINK & LEARN GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP TOO.

Rating: - Excellent checkers set for young kids!
This checkers set is perfect for young kids. The large checker pieces are much easier than traditional checkers for their little fingers to maneuver, and the woven checkers board prevents checkers from sliding all over the place. The large checkers are also great if you have younger children/infants in the house who may be at risk of trying to put them in their mouth. Not a concern with these! My 3 year old is having a great time playing checkers with mommy using this well-made version of the game. Very happy with my purchase.

Rating: - A perfect first checkers game
This checkers set is perfect for toddlers. The key to this set is that, unlike a slick game board, the pieces will not slide around, making it frustrating for little ones to keep track of their pieces. My five year old wants to play this game every day, and he often beats me if I'm not paying attention. It's great for teaching strategy. Because of this, we're getting ready to try "No Stress Chess", which I'm ordering for Christmas...
