The Merriweather pattern is a charmer. As part of the new Circle of Kindness collection from Pfaltzgraff, the colorful dinnerware is inspired by the book of the same name by Jana Kolpen and Mary Tiegreen (fans will know of their other book-inspired Pfaltzgraff pattern, Villa della Luna), about the Irish countryside and the beauty of human kindness. Made of sturdy hand-painted stoneware that is safe for use in the oven, microwave, and dishwasher, Circle of Kindness Merriweather presents different colors, textures, and designs on each piece in the place setting. This 16-piece set of four place settings is a feast for the heart and eyes. The 11-inch dinner plate, in warm yellow with a green braid rim, features a border fully covered with a textured basket-weave pattern. The 8-1/2-inch salad and dessert plate showcases the Merriweather Cottage in a bucolic setting. A green garland design encircles the border, and also embellishes the white, 16-ounce mug with its green interior. Standing out is the soup and cereal bowl, measuring six inches in diameter and holding 20 ounces of steel-cut Irish oatmeal. White on the inside, the bowl displays a wonderfully textured exterior in green, with the same garland design across a white rim band.
