On this day 153 years ago, Dodgson and Duckworth took Alice Liddell and her two sisters on an afternoon of boating. Stories were spun, and Alice begged Dodgson to write the stories down for her. He agreed to do that, though storytellers usually only spin stories away into the air.
I am writing this from the USA, where Independence Day Sales are going full tilt, even though Independence Day was originally July 2nd, and moved by Congress to July 4th.
Alice Day is the real July 4th holiday!
