That's a very good question. I haven't seen the black and white version, only because I dislike any movie in black and white. Tim Burton's version of Alice was amazing. The movie focused on the hatter and Alice.

Tim Burton's Alice was a good movie but it is not a version of Alice, it is a different story using characters and events from the source material a la Hook & The Neverending Story III.
