[Dave in Wonderland]

Has anyone seen the DVDs of both Alice in Wonderland (1986) and Alice Through the Looking Glass (1974) from BBC available from Amazon.com? They look interesting.

The 1986 one was okay. I wasn't overly thrilled with it, but I wasn't entirely disappointed either.

Unless you really like movies where the entire thing is badly done with green screen backgrounds, don't even bother with Alice Through the Looking-Glass.

I quite like the '73 It sticks like glue to the text, and I rather enjoyed the *special* effects; I thought they lent it a naive charm




EDIT I didn't get more than five minutes into the 1986 Alice. They blotted their copybook almost immediately with a lot of extraneous rubbish about whether Alice had had her breakfast, at which point she broke into song and I stopped watching
