I'm a french studiant, and I'd like to thank you for this very good site because it has help me a lot to study Alice in wonderland and Through the looking glass.
There's only one thing I'd like to say, it will be interresting to give explanations and others study in french or other languages.

Thanks a lot! :)

" What's the French for fiddle-de-dee? "

Postby Chessie » Thu Jan 06, 2005 6:30 pm

It will be interesting to give explanations and others study in French

"What's the French for fiddle-de-dee?" [Comment dit-on "turlututu" (*) en Anglais ?]
'Through the Looking Glass, Chapter 9 - Queen Alice'

(*): Hey Punky, what do you suggest for this mirror translation in ... French?

If you have already found the final mirror position Qc8 Pd8 Qe8+
in the "Voyage à travers un échiquier" [Journey through the chessboard]

by the BNF, the French National Library,
I believe that you could gravely ;-) reply with the Alice's voice:
"Fiddle-de-dee's not English" ["Turlututu ? Mais ce n'est pas du français !"]
______________

'Speak in French when you can't think of the English for a thing'
"Quand vous ne pouvez pas vous rappeler le mot anglais
qui exprime telle ou telle chose, parlez français
"
Lewis Carroll

Eric, the Tibetan wandering in the North Pole

It is already translated ;)

The French lines are merely translations of the English ones in his post.
