Original font used?
An odd question, does anyone know the name of the font originally used in Alice's Adventures in Wonderland?

At typophile.com somebody said the Victorian texts used Scotch Roman typefaces.
Is that a start?

It certainly provides another option. I was starting to lean toward the font Didot, which was commonly used as well, but the capital Q doesn't match.

Guess what, Treacle? It looks like you were on the right track!
This (digital version) talks about the font used to recreate it on the last page, which was a Modern font and which in America would have been referred to as a Scotch font.
