Book repair help

Postby LCL999 » Wed May 26, 2021 7:15 am

My hobby is book-binding and repair.

Currently I am working on an 1870 printing by MACMILLAN & CO of Alice in Wonderland. I find that the inner sheet of section N, pages 91 to 94, is missing. This is the end of Chapter VI. PIG AND PEPPER.

I seek help to make a substitute sheet.

Ideally a good facsimile/photocopy could be used.
Otherwise I could retype the lost text. For that I need to know the font used. It is similar but not the same as Cheltenham. And also a link to the missing images - the two of the Cheshire Cat.

I'm not entirely sure if this would be any help since it was for the original edition, but I did some research a few years ago on the Appleton edition (which was the original Macmillan edition rebound and sold in the US) and found a digital version of the book created by BookVirtual Corporation (https://www.adobe.com/be_en/active-use/ ... erland.pdf) that set out to recreate an accurate version of the original text in digital form used a type called Monotype Modern.
