name is Lenny de Rooy; I'm a Dutch woman who was born on 25 August 1979. I studied
at the University of Nijmegen (Business Administration). Currently
I work as Account Manager and Usability Consultant for an internet marketing company.
I am specialized in search engine optimization (how to make a website rank high in search engines)
and website usability (how to make a website user-friendly).
No, this website isn't perfect on all SEO and Usability aspects.
As I want to build everything myself, I am sometimes limited in what I can technically accomplish.
To me, this website is a hobby, playing ground, and experiment, not a portfolio site.
As you can see I'm very fond of the Alice books. It started when I was a little
girl and through the years it has become worse. I like working with computers,
and when I got access to the internet, I immediately started searching for Alice-pages.
But I couldn't find many pages with much info. So I decided to create one of
my own, on which everything was grouped together. When I say 'everything', I
mean as many things as possible about the Alice books and the Disney movie,
not about Carroll himself. I'm very interested in his books, but I don't want
to include his photography and all the other things he did on this page. I leave
that to other people, otherwise this site would become huge!
I put my first website on-line in December 1997. And it was bad :-D. However,
because people appeared to be interested, I kept expanding it. In the years
afterwards, the site underwent several big changes, which finally resulted in
what you are seeing now!
Before I get more comments on the Disney-part (‘He didn’t combine
the books, he messed them up!’, ‘Bad, bad, bad Disney...’) I
want to make this clear: when I was a young child, I watched the movie over
and over again. Now I know it almost by heart. If I hadn’t seen this movie,
I’d never have read the book. So I’m very grateful to Disney that
he led me to this great piece of literature, and introduced it to me when I
was too young to appreciate the books (now you can forgive me, can’t you?
And many people DO visit this site for the movie!).
I always love to receive comments on this site, so that I can improve it (also
about bad English grammar or spelling). Furthermore, all questions are welcome.
