About me and this website

`You!' said the Caterpillar contemptuously. `Who are YOU?'

My name is Lenny de Rooy; I'm a Dutchwoman, born on 25 August 1979. I studied Business Administration at the University of Nijmegen. At the moment I'm working as Website Usability Consultant and Search Engine Optimization Manager for an internet marketing company. That means that I advise companies about making their website user-friendly and make it rank high in search engine result pages.

It's true that this website isn't perfect in terms of every aspect of SEO and usability. As I want to build everything myself, I am sometimes limited in what I can achieve technically. For me, this website is a hobby, playground, and experiment; it is not designed as a portfolio site.

As you can see, I'm very fond of the Alice books. My fascination for the story started when I was a little girl and through the years it has grown. When I got access to the internet, I immediately started searching for websites about 'Alice', but I couldn't find many pages with much info. That's why I decided to create one of my own, on which everything would be grouped together. When I say 'everything', I mean as many things as possible about the Alice books and the Disney movie, not about Carroll himself. I'm very interested in his books, but I don't want to include his photography and all the other activities he was involved. I'll leave that to other people. Otherwise this site would become too vast and enormous!

I put my first website online in December 1997. And it was bad :-D. However, because people appeared to be interested, I kept expanding it. In the years that followed, the site underwent several major changes, which finally resulted in what you are seeing now!

Before I get more comments on the Disney part (‘He didn’t combine the books, he messed them up!’, ‘Bad, bad, bad Disney...’) I'd like to make this clear: when I was a young child, I watched that movie over and over again. Now I know it almost by heart. If I hadn’t seen this movie, I’d never have read the book. So I’m very grateful to Disney for showing me the way to this great work of literature, introducing it to me when I was too young to appreciate the books (Now you can forgive me, can’t you? And many people DO visit this site because of the movie!).

Photograph of Lenny I always love to receive comments on this site, so that I can improve it. You're also welcome to correct my grammar or spelling, as I'm not a native English speaker. Furthermore, I welcome all questions. I'll try to reply as soon as I can!

That's enough about me. Now please go ahead and explore this site!
